The success in reducing air infiltration, improving sound insulation, protecting against adverse weather conditions and supporting improvements in energy saving is totally related to the selection and insertion of the optimum seal solution. Schlegel have an enviable reputation for supplying the best seals available for each application, largely gained through their supply of pile weatherseals and the high performance Q-Lon foam seals.
In bringing a new Foam-Tite option to the market, Schlegel are giving more choice for performance optimisation. Nick Moss, Schlegel’s Marketing Director takes up the story; “Foam-Tite has a number of special properties that we can exploit to create a product specifically to meet the needs of a particular application. It is a foam seal so provides greater reliability and better insulation. As an extruded foam we can make a wide variety of shapes, including hollows and glazing seals. It is also relatively cheap and easy to customise. Finally, we can add many surface features to improve contact areas and to allow both compression and sliding applications.
“With a high degree of customisation, Foam-Tite is aimed primarily at designers of aluminium and PVC window profiles looking to enhance the overall performance of the fabricated and installed product. Early discussions with this group are clearly demonstrating a strong level of interest in the use of this technology which has been used in North America for some years.”
