Quanex invests £1 million in UK manufacturing to strengthen Schlegel production capacity

Schlegel, a leading manufacturer of high-performance sealing systems for windows and doors, has seen its Newton Aycliffe facility boosted by a £1m extrusion line investment from Quanex.

The investment in new production machinery and extrusion capability follows Quanex’s acquisition of Schlegel and underlines the group’s long-term commitment to UK manufacturing.

The equipment has been designed around a new development in collaboration with one of our Quanex sister brands and combines the best of both our businesses’ expertise. It  not only extends Schlegel’s offering, but gives Quanex a unique opportunity to leverage cross selling and Intellectual Property like never before.

The major upgrade for the County Durham site perfectly complements Schlegel’s Q-LON best-in-class polyurethane foam seals, along with a complete range of Brush Pile and bespoke Extrusion seals & gaskets. This forms part of Quanex’s ongoing strategy to strengthen its manufacturing offering and create additional flexibility and capacity to support future growth across the Quanex portfolio in the UK.
